How do I answer?
The questions are passage based with a series of multiple choice questions on them. You will also have to write essays.
MCQs: Section I and III are reasoning-based and comprise of MCQs based on a passage. The right answers have to be marked on an OMR sheet using a pencil.
Essays: In Section II, you have to write two essays. Questions are in the form of a set of quotations exploring a particular theme (poverty, humour, for instance). There is no word-limit as such but the time limit is 30 minutes. Blank sheets are provided for the same.
How do I prepare for the MCQs?
Section I: MCQs from passages dealing with a plethora of topics – anything from cartoon on climate crises to a journal extract. To answer MCQs correctly you need to read the passage, understand it well, analyze it and then form your assessment of what the author is trying to say. There is no fixed method to prepare for GAMSAT Section I. what can help is voracious reading and a good IQ.
Section III: Questions deal with the sciences: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The questions are again in the multiple choice format and are passage based. Mugging up scientific theories and concepts is not the way to go as GAMSAT is looking for students who can keep pace with a constantly evolving scientific world.
