UMAT Important Dates


Registrations for UMAT 2018 will open in early December 2017. Registrations will close on 1st June 2018, 5:00 PM AEST. Late registrations will be accepted till 15th June 2018, 5:00 PM AEST.


Australia and New Zealand: $260 AUD (inclusive of GST).
Overseas: $260 AUD (inclusive of GST) + overseas testing levy of $185 AUD.

For those eligible for the concession, the registration fee is $160 AUD (inclusive of GST).

Late fees: Registration fee + $65 AUD.

Payments need to be made via MasterCard or Visa Debit/Credit. Bank drafts in AUD and Australia Post money orders are accepted. Personal checks and cash are not accepted forms of payment.

Exam Date

25th July 2018
One alternative testing date will be provided to candidates who were unable to sit the test on 25.7.2018 due to unavoidable circumstances (upon application and valid documentation evidencing the circumstance). Candidates need to apply at least a week before 25.7.2018. Applications for alternative test dates will not be accepted beyond 31.7.2017. The alternative testing date will be set approximately 2 weeks after the main test date.


Results for UMAT 2018 will be released in late September 2018. Results will be released online only. Scores will be valid for only one year.

Few things to know before you sit for UMAT

  • Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) is held by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
  • Exams are held on behalf of the UMAT Consortium Ltd., a group of some of the most prestigious universities in Australia and New Zealand.
  • UMAT scores are used for entry in the medicine, dentistry and health science degree programs at the undergraduate level.
  • Students from all over the world are eligible to sit for the examination.
  • Candidates have to register via the ACER website:
  • The results of the test are declared by ACER in late September, following which candidates can start applying for the various universities.
  • Each university has different criteria for admitting students in the various courses. Information will be available in the respective websites.
  • A candidate can sit UMAT n number of times. A UMAT score is valid for one year.
  • Candidates from any and every stream can sit the UMAT.
  • UMAT test centres are allotted in each of the capital cities in Australia and also some cities in New Zealand, USA, UK and Singapore.
